Why recommend it?: It's a story about walking away from the life you have and creating a new one. It doesn't end up as one might want it to. Danielle Steel is a popular author at our library and is always well received.

We All Want Impossible Things, by Catherine Newman

Plot: Edith and Ashley have been best friends for over forty-two years. They’ve shared the mundane and the momentous together. But now the unthinkable has happened. Edi is dying of ovarian cancer and spending her last days at a hospice near Ash, who stumbles into heartbreak surrounded by her daughters, ex(ish) husband, dear friends, a poorly chosen lover (or two), and a rotating cast of human hospice characters.

Why recommend it?: This story tugs your heartstrings and makes you think about life, friends, living and dying.

Our Missing Hearts, by Celeste Ng

Plot: Our Missing Hearts is an old story made new, of the ways supposedly civilized communities can ignore the most searing injustice. It’s about the lessons and legacies we pass on to our children, and the power of art to create change.

Why recommend it?: I like this book because it show us what life would be like if we lost one of our parents and what we might go through to find them.
