The state-run COVID testing site at SUNY New Paltz will open to the public starting tomorrow and run from Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan announced Monday.

Ryan also said he’d release additional details on obtaining free at-home rapid tests and mask distributions in the coming days.

The new testing site, initiated by a request from Ryan to Governor Kathy Hochul, is meant to increase access to much-needed tests for residents during the latest spike in cases.

“I want to thank Governor Hochul and her team for answering our request to activate a testing site here in Ulster County,” Ryan said in his announcement. “This site will help ensure that our residents have access to critically needed testing so we can keep our residents healthy, and continue to keep our schools and businesses open safely. As we respond to the ongoing surge in positive cases driven by the Omicron variant, it is essential for residents to continue to wear masks, get vaccinated, and especially to get their booster shot.”

The SUNY New Paltz community testing site will be located at the College Terrace Building. Residents can make an appointment by clicking here. Each site will maintain capacity for around 225 appointments a day and up to 50 walk-ins for PCR testing.
