If you subscribe to Peacock, NBC’s online streaming platform, you may just see some familiar sights in the upcoming limited series Poker Face, starring Natasha Lyonne and a whole host of notable names.

According to the Hudson Valley Film Commission, the series shot scenes throughout the Hudson Valley, including in Accord, Beacon, Garrison, Middletown, New Paltz, Newburgh, New Windsor, Olivebridge, Poughkeepsie, and Walden. Some scenes were also filmed on location at local businesses such as the Towne Crier Café in Beacon, The Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie, Tetta’s in Olivebridge, and Woodland Pond in New Paltz.

“The Hudson Valley Film Commission was an excellent resource for us in casting Hudson Valley locals,” said Alex Cody, senior casting associate at Grant Wilfley Casting. “They were always available and eager to help us get the word out to as many locals as possible to be involved as background extras on our shows. Without their help, our job would have been a lot more difficult in helping the production achieve their vision. It is great to see an expanding pool of locals who are excited and willing to do background work and show up to set knowing what they are doing.”

The Commission said the production ended up including thousands of local extras. Plus, more than 50 local industry members were hired to work behind the scenes in roles such as accounting, grip and electric, hair and makeup, location scouting, production, set medics, special effects, stage management, and wardrobe.

In Poker Face, Natasha Lyonne plays Charlie Cale, a woman who has the ability to determine when someone is lying. She uses these skills to help solve strange crimes as she travels around in her Plymouth Barracuda. The show, created by Rian Johnson (Knives Out: Glass Onion), also features Adrien Brody, Angel Desai, Audrey Corsa, Benjamin Bratt, Brandon Michael Hall, Charles Melton, Chelsea Frei, Cherry Jones, Chloë Sevigny, Clea DuVall, Colton Ryan, Danielle MacDonald, Dascha Polanco, Ellen Barkin, Hong Chau, Jasmine Aiyana Garvin, Jameela Jamil, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Judith Light, Leslie Silva, Lil Rel Howery, Luis Guzmán, Megan Suri, Niall Cunningham, Nicholas Cirillo, Nick Nolte, Reed Birney, Rhea Perlman, Ron Perlman, Rowan Blanchard, S. Epatha Merkerson, Shane Paul McGhie, Simon Helberg, Stephanie Hsu, Tim Blake Nelson, and Tim Meadows.

It is slated to premiere on Peacock on January 26.

At the end of each year, the Hudson Valley Film Commission shares the impact of regional media productions on the local economy. For 2022, the Commission says more than $62 million was spent locally when combining all area productions, which includes 45,757 nights spent at local lodging facilities, 540 days spent scouting for locations, 448 production days, 214 locations, and the creation of 790 crew jobs and more than 3,383 casting jobs for both actors and background extras.
