“March Muttness” has begun at the Catskill Animal Sanctuary (CAS) in Saugerties. It’s a nationwide fundraising tournament to support homeless and rescued animals through the month of March, and as of Wednesday, March 1, the sanctuary is collecting donations.
CAS is one of 64 animal rescue operations from across the country who are competing to raise the most funds. Home to 11 species of farm animals, CAS is bringing special attention to their rescues as companions just like dogs and cats.
“This is a great opportunity for those who want to help animals in need and are interested in competing in a tournament-style fundraiser that benefits animals all over the country! And although you won't catch our rescued sheep ambassador Finneas shooting hoops — if you tune in to our social media, we’ll be spending all of March highlighting the ways farmed animals are companions too!” said Amber Moore, donor relations manager at CAS.
March Muttness, organized by the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, is a sports bracket-style competition between the 64 teams. Right now, CAS is competing in Round One: All Tails In, a double elimination round that will narrow down the teams by half for Round 2: The Thrilling 32.
To support CAS and help them progress in the March Muttness tournament, donors can contribute at MarchMuttness.org or bit.ly/3kUQdyN. All donations will go to support CAS, regardless of their tournament ranking.
The Catskill Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit, 150-acre refuge, and donations will go towards their work in animal aid, education and vegan advocacy in the Hudson Valley.
