Scott Landry, an experienced educator with over 30 years in the field, has been appointed as the new principal of the Career Pathways Programs at the Ulster BOCES Career & Technical Center in Port Ewen. Landry officially began his new role in September 2024.

Dr. Jonah M. Schenker, Ulster BOCES District Superintendent, expressed enthusiasm about Landry's appointment. “Scott brings an infectious passion for education and leadership to the Career Pathways Programs,” said Schenker. “It’s an exciting time for Ulster BOCES as we continue to reimagine what a successful education looks like in New York State, and Scott’s enthusiasm will help our young professionals to follow their passions and achieve success.”

Landry brings extensive experience in school administration to the position. He previously served as principal of Bethlehem Central High School, where he oversaw a staff of over 200 and played a crucial role in improving student outcomes. His accomplishments include increasing the graduation rate and introducing new STEM and business programs. He has also held assistant principal positions in the Bethlehem and Schalmont Central School Districts and began his career as an English teacher, inspiring students through his passion for literature and the arts.

Landry expressed excitement about the new role, saying, “Career and Technical Education is one of the most exciting and impactful areas in modern education.”

Landry holds a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from the University at Albany, a Master of Science in Secondary Education and Supervision from the College of Saint Rose, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Secondary Education from SUNY New Paltz.

One of Landry's most notable achievements was transforming his office into a student-run business. This project involved students creating and marketing homemade Italian sauce based on a family recipe of Landry's. The project raised over $2,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Association, gained recognition from the New York State Legislature, and was invited to showcase their sauce at a tasting event hosted by a renowned restaurateur.

Beyond his education career, Landry also succeeded in financial services as a senior associate and sales development manager at New York Life Insurance Company.

The Ulster BOCES Career Pathways Programs are built to provide high-tech, hands-on training programs. The programs emphasize project-based learning and internship opportunities.
