The GOP primary results are in.

Senator Peter Oberacker, who was challenged by newcomer Alexander Portelli, won the Republican Primary for New York’s 19th Congressional District. He will face Rep. Josh Riley in November. Oberacker told the Shawangunk Journal his top issues are “affordability, affordability and affordability” including grocery store prices and utility bills.

New York Representative Chris Tague, who was challenged by Sullivan County Legislator Terry Bernardo, won the Republican primary for New York State Senate District 51. Tague told the Shawangunk Journal that “out of touch” Albany officials, energy policies and overregulation is to blame for lack of affordability. Tague celebrated his win on Facebook.

“This victory is one more step toward giving our communities the strong voice and common-sense fighter we need in Albany,” Tague wrote. “I’m grateful, I’m energized, and I’m ready to keep this campaign moving forward. Now we unite, we work, and we win in November.”

Early voting for the general election begins October 24. Election Day is November 3.
