The 250^th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence is this July 4. Here’s how to celebrate.

Grahamsville

The Time and the Valleys Museum (332 Main St, Grahamsville) is unveiling a new immersive exhibit celebrating America’s 250th birthday entitled The Great Fear: Frontier Life in the American Revolution. It will open to the public on Independence Day (Saturday, July 4), just in time for our country’s 250th anniversary. The displays tell the story of 1700s Ulster-Orange County, including conflicts between British loyalists and Patriot settlers, Native American disposition, growing infrastructure and more.

Shawangunk

The Town of Shawangunk will celebrate America's 250th Birthday on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Popp Memorial Park, 3081 NY-208, Wallkill, from 4 - 8 p.m..

They promise “delicious food, family-friendly activities, DJ and music and historic reenactments.” The historical society will be displaying maps and photos at the Shawangunk Town Hall and Wallkill public Library, and there will be a fireworks display at 9 p.m. (weather permitting).

Wawarsing

On July 3, there will be a Red, White & Boom Party at Joseph Y. Resnick Airport from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., featuring a flag ceremony, apple pie contest, a kid’s zoo, food trucks, face painting, a colonial costume photo booth, a boucebounce house, music performances on two stages, a DJ, bagpipes, and a skydiving

On July 4, there will be a parade at noon in downtown Ellenville, plus fireworks at Joseph Y. Resnick Airport at 9 p.m.

Kerhonkson

Kelder’s Farm at 5755 US Route 209 will be hosting “4^th on the farm” from Friday the 4^th to Sunday the 6^th, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This is a ticketed event, so check their website at https://keldersfarm.com/pages/hours-and-calendar-july

Rosendale

In July 3 at 4 p.m., Willow Kiln Park behind the Rosendale Theatre will host This Land Is Our Land, a celebration of indigenous culture including food from La Ruta Del Sol and Isabeli Gelati and performances by Matoaka Little Eagle, Redwing Blackbird Theatre, and Joan Henry and Spirit.

At 9:30 a.m. on July 4, Rosendale Theatre at 408 Main Street will also be hosting a free reading of the Declaration of Independence and excerpts from Elizabeth Cady Stanton’s Declaration of Sentiments.
