Four Ellenville residents are in custody following a morning assault at a Wawarsing gas station that left a 43-year-old man hospitalized.

At approximately 9:00 a.m. on September 8, 2026, troopers from SP Ellenville responded to a report of multiple individuals fighting at the Mobil gas station located at 8404 State Route 209 in Wawarsing. According to State Police, several individuals attacked the 43-year-old male victim using a baseball bat. The victim was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the altercation, four suspects were transported to SP Ellenville for processing without incident. All four individuals reside in Ellenville and face multiple charges:

Jordan I. Jones, 19, of Ellenville, was charged with 2nd-degree Attempted Gang Assault (Class D felony), 2nd-degree Assault (Class D felony), and 4th-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon (Class A misdemeanor).
Amanda M. Jones, 40, of Ellenville, was charged with 2nd-degree Attempted Gang Assault (Class D felony), 2nd-degree Assault (Class D felony), and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class A misdemeanor).
Matthew Johannessen, 24, of Ellenville, was charged with 2nd-degree Attempted Gang Assault (Class D felony), 2nd-degree Assault (Class D felony), 3rd-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon (Class D felony), and 4th-degree Criminal Mischief (Class A misdemeanor).
A 16-year-old male, of Ellenville, was charged with 2nd-degree Attempted Gang Assault (Class D felony), 2nd-degree Assault (Class D felony), and 4th-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon (Class A misdemeanor).

All four defendants were arraigned at the Ulster County Court Centralized Arraignment Part and remanded to Ulster County Jail pending future court appearances.
