An Orange County jury has convicted 56-year-old Anthony Parrish of Middletown on all charges, including attempted murder in the second degree, following a shooting in the Town of Crawford.

On June 6, 2024, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Parrish went to the victim’s home in Crawford and shot the man twice in the head before fleeing the scene. Despite sustaining grievous injuries, the victim managed to crawl out of his home to a main road, where he flagged down a passerby who called 911.

A critical breakthrough in the investigation came from a Town of Crawford Police Sergeant, who had serendipitously been at the victim's property on an unrelated matter the day prior while Parrish was visiting on a motorbike. When the injured victim indicated that the shooter was the man on the motorbike from the previous day, the sergeant reviewed his body-worn camera footage, identified the vehicle's license plate, and named Parrish as the suspect.

Following a multi-agency alert, a City of Middletown Police Officer spotted Parrish at a bus stop in Middletown. Upon detaining him, police recovered a duffle bag containing quantities of narcotics and a loaded firearm that was later confirmed as the weapon used in the shooting. Forensic analysis located Parrish’s DNA on both the handgun and the drug packaging.

The trial concluded on Thursday, September 10, 2026, before Honorable Craig Stephen Brown in Orange County Court. The jury found Parrish guilty of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon (Second and Third Degrees), and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (Third, Fourth, and two counts of Fifth Degree).

Following the verdict, Parrish was remanded to the Orange County Jail without bail. He faces up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on November 10, 2026.

Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler thanked the Town of Crawford Police for leading the investigation, along with the City of Middletown Police Department and the New York State Police for their assistance. DA Hoovler also commended Senior Assistant District Attorney David Byrne and Assistant District Attorney Cassidy Turi for prosecuting the case.
