Elizabeth Fisher is the general manager of Accord Market.

How did you or your family end up in Accord?

My husband and I moved to New Paltz in the summer of 2020, and I worked at a couple places in Kingston and Tivoli and in the area before I came to work here at Accord Market in January 2026.

What do you like about Accord?

I love that it is a tiny little town that has a lot of character. There's not a lot of businesses on Main Street, and it's kind of fun being one of the only ones. We get to see almost every part of the community come in, get to know the local neighbors, and I love to provide a service for them. It's kind of a very rural place that they don't have a lot of options for groceries.

What is your favorite local business?

I’m a big fan of Mill & Main in Kerhonkson. I used to work there very briefly, but I know the family that runs it, and both their little cafe and their restaurant are awesome. Also, my personal favorite is Upstate Taco. Amazing tacos and very nice owners as well.

What would you like to change about Accord?

Parking. Parking is our biggest problem, and it's kind of business related. I mean, there is the municipal lot behind the firehouse, but it's hard to find. And I guess a lot of people don't come down Main Street from 209. They don't actually know it's here. So just a little bit of awareness about the other things that are coming. And as more businesses open, I know there's a couple slated at the end, people will hopefully find us.

How do you think Accord will change in 10 years?

I think you'll see more businesses here. I do know there's several in the works. There's the new restaurant, Accord Social, that just opened. I think more people are still coming to the area, and it's nice to have a more rural option to somewhere like Kingston or New Paltz. There's a lot of beautiful nature. The rail trail is not far from here.
