Notice of Ulster County Public Hearing

Ulster County will hold a public hearing on October 20, 2026, at 7:05 PM at the Legislative Chambers, 6th Floor, County Office Building, 244 Fair Street, Kingston, NY, for the purpose of hearing public comments on the current United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) project: Ulster County Lead Hazard Reduction Program (NYLHD0591-25), awarded $3,869,522.88 through March 2030.

Citizens are urged to express their views on the Ulster County Lead Hazard Reduction Program. The Program aims to remediate pre-1978 lead hazards in up to 150 apartments in the City of Kingston. The Program will target income-eligible households. To qualify, at least half of the households in a building must have incomes at or below 50% of the area median income. Additionally, the remaining units can receive remediation support if their households are at or below 80% of the area median income. The program will refer to HUD's latest income chart for Ulster County, based on family size, for eligibility. Additionally, children under 6 must reside or are expected to reside in the unit (including pregnant women). Property owners must prioritize families with a child under 6 years old for at least 3 years. The New York State Department of Health awarded Ulster County $434,664.11 for use as matching funds. Ulster County will coordinate temporary relocation of households during remediation work.
