The stars have not aligned, so for the time being, 51 Main Street will not become the permanent home of the Pine Bush UFO & Paranormal Museum. The museum, a major draw during the hamlet’s annual UFO Fair, was expanded and improved for the 2019 fair, and there was interest in making it a year-round attraction.

But it won’t happen just yet because the investor who was going to make it all possible has pulled out of the project, said Domanie Ragni, the town’s director of community services.

Dino Marvos said he’s still willing to see the museum project through. He owns the imposing brick building at 51 Main that, according to paranormal experts, has its own resident ghosts. And museum director Lance Hallowell is still on board, Ragni said. But without the money man, the museum is still limited to its spot in the annual fair. Hallowell, who does costume and production design for a living, got rave reviews for this year’s museum, which had long lines snaking out the entranceway for most of the day. He’s convinced a permanent museum would be an asset to the town.

Ragni said Marvos paid for the repairs that were needed to bring the building up to code for the one-day event. But more extensive upgrades, including the installation of a sprinkler system, would be necessary for the museum to expand further and remain open. That money was to come from the investor, whom Ragni declined to name since he’s no longer involved in the project.

There is still a lot of support for the museum in the hamlet that’s known as the UFO capital of the East Coast. Ragni said the setback might be temporary. For now, at least, UFO fans and believers in spirits who talk to the living will have to wait for next year’s fair.

Meanwhile, if the spirits saw anything suspicious the night before the fair and are willing to talk, they can start with the police. Ragni said dozens of folding chairs that disappeared between the time the tent and chair company delivered them May 17 and the opening of the fair the next day are still missing. The tent company puts the count at 62. Crawford Police Chief Dominick Blasko said the investigation is continuing but at the moment he has nothing new to report.
